| Case Study 1: St Edmunds's | 13th Mar '07 |
St Edmunds's Church Living Well, Dartford
This new building opened in 2004 and is a major £2 million community project set in the Thames Gateway and is seen as a model of excellent community partnership working. The community of Temple Hill have driven the project from its inception - throughout the process of designing the new building to it's completion a number of individuals and organisations have worked together to make the vision a reality. |
The project has been funded through significant charity donations, national and local government and investment by the Church of England through the Diocese of Rochester. Various individuals and groups worked together to design the new building to completion. It now provides a much-needed focal point for work right across Temple Hill.
Not only is St Edmund's the Parish Church for Temple Hill, the Living Well also accommodates the following:
- Temple Hill Surgery
- Sure Start facility
- Healthy Living Project run by the Community Forum
- Community café
- Computer training facility
- Rooms to hire for meetings
'This place is quite unique. The idea of linking a Sure Start facility with a local church and also a GP practice is stunningly brilliant.'
